Dr. Frieden is the director of Pediatric Dermatology at UCSF Children's Hospital and in the Department of Dermatology. She is a world-renowned specialist in children's skin diseases. She has more than 20 years experience in the management of a variety of dermatologic conditions including birthmarks, hemangiomas, laser surgery of port-wine stains, and in caring for children with common conditions such as eczema and other rashes. She is the founder and serves as director of the multi-disciplinary Vascular Anomalies Clinic at UCSF which has been serving patients since 1991. She is the founder of the Hemangioma Investigator Group, an international consortium that helps to research Infantile hemangiomas.

Dr. Frieden is an Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Pediatric Dermatology, and co-editor of the textbook Neonatal Dermatology published in 2008.
