| Acne vulgaris is a common disorder. Patients are seen in several
different dermatology practices depending on the patient's age,
the severity of their acne, and their prior treatments. |

| Patients Under the Age of 15 |
| All acne patients below the age of 15 are seen in Pediatric
Dermatology. |
| |
| Patients with Mild or Moderate Acne |
- This form of acne usually has less than 25 bumps at one time
and is worse on the face than the body.
- If you have this form of acne, do not have irregular menstrual
periods, and have not previously had a course of Accutane (isotretinoin),
please make an appointment in General
Dermatology.

| Patients with Refractory or Severe Acne |
- This form of acne usually has more than 25 bumps and the bumps
can be deep and resemble boils or abscesses.
- These types of acne lesions can leave scars.
- In this category we also include patients who have failed
chronic oral antibiotic therapy and previous treatment with
Accutane (isotretinion), and patients being referred by other
dermatologist. If you have this form of acne, please make an

| Patients with Acne Scarring |
| Patients with acne scarring who wish to seek surgical treatment
may make an appointment in the Dermatologic
Surgery and Laser Center. |
